Did you know that getting rid of warts naturally can be super simple? I sure didn’t until I found this remedy.
One of our boys had been really prone to getting common warts on his fingers and knees (mostly his knees). We mentioned it several times at our doctor’s office visits and since he was young (under 10), they didn’t recommend attempting to freeze them.
His left knee was the source of much annoyance on his part. He didn’t like wearing anything that would show it at first but when over the counter remedies hadn’t worked for over a year, he began to not care as much.

Though this was not painful at all, it was very unsightly. These stubborn warts just would not go away completely after several rounds of Compound W treatments. In fact, they would look like they were shrinking then come back and spread. So I went off in search of another treatment.
I had some small bottles left in my medicine cabinet of various essential oils that we got to aide in our lyme disease journey. (A few small drops of peppermint oil in a glass of water will help soothe an upset stomach caused by the strong antibiotics.)
We had lemon essential oil in our stash and I decided to try that out as it’s a natural anti-fungal. I didn’t have much so I tried it on a smaller spot before deciding if I wanted to order some more. It seemed to work so I ordered two large bottles, not being sure how much we would need to get rid of the huge section. I accidentally bought lemongrass essential oil but it ended up working just the same, though it had a very unpleasant scent.

There may be some scarring but his knee looks tremendously better!! The above photo was taken about a month after the treatment of lemongrass essential oil. The warts slowly started to shrink and disappear. The area now itches slightly as the skin works to heal itself.

HOW TO USE LEMONGRASS ESSENTIAL OIL TO GET RID OF WARTS:
- Clean and pat dry the effected area
- Soak a cotton ball with lemongrass essential oil and dab it all over the warts
- Place the same cotton ball on top of the effected area and use a bandaid to secure it in place.
- Leave the cotton ball in place for as long as possible (at least an hour but if you can keep it on overnight, that’s better)
- Repeat the above steps 2-3 times
- Warts should disappear in a few weeks
