I love a good craft that keeps the kids busy and laughing at the same time! This DIY Indoor Snowman craft is a great activity for wintertime fun when outdoor play is not an option.
If you don’t mind a bit of easy cleanup afterwards, I hope you’ll try out this thrifty play activity this season.

With just a few boxes of cornstarch, some cheap shaving cream and creative thinking for accessories, you can make snowmen from inside your cozy home! We purchased our supplies from Walmart and grabbed random materials from around the house to use as accessories.
All you need to create your indoor snowman:
- 2-3 boxes of cornstarch – $.92/ea
- 2 cans shaving cream – $.98/ea
- Shoebox or Plastic Container – FREE
- Random crafty materials for accessories from around your house – FREE

You could go to the dollar store or Michaels for craft supplies or you can check out our list below for a few ideas of accessories you can find around the house for free:
- twist ties from bread or other bakery items (for scarves)
- water bottle lids or glue stick caps (for a hat)
- toothpicks or q-tips (for arms)
- craft beads, dry macaroni noodles/beans (for eyes, mouth and buttons)
- sprinkles

Let the kids mix the cornstarch and shaving cream together with their hands until it forms a soft crumbly mixture. The texture is really satisfying and fun for them just play with.
If you can’t form a ball, add some more shaving cream until it starts sticking together. The “snow” will keep for a good bit of time. I stored it in a zip lock bag along with all the accessories in the shoe box so we could easily take it out for another play session.

I love that even my older kiddos enjoyed the activity alongside the 4 year old. I may have even taken a turn to play in the fluffy white stuff myself!

Our daughter has asked to play with it again a couple of times as well. So for a thrifty $4.00 craft, I’d say this was a success and definitely worth it for a nice quiet time activity.

If you enjoyed this craft, I would love to see your results. Tag @HouseManorVA on IG with your pictures and don’t forget to PIN this idea for later or to share with your friends!

Blessings and love from our family to yours!
